CURATORIAL STATEMENT

Levitating Droplets is a project which explores the potentiality of material as one of the factors which determine the capacity of architectural design. The material properties in natural conditions hide opportunities of utilisation in architectural design. That is why new ways of using materials have always been important for creative architectural design. However, in the Bauhaus and in most of the modern periods, positivism and materialism are anthropocentric perspectives which care about dominating nature and matter. Nowadays this paradigm is gradually dissolving and melting in digital spaces where reality is reproduced. For instance, our interaction with non-human beings and the physical reality we reconstruct beyond nature affects our perspective on the nature of the material. Levitating Droplets is a work produced with this approach. The project aims to seek new ways to produce these new reality materials in a creative artistic way.
