Unseen Selves: Art, Identity, and the Digital Mask

TAEX is delighted to present Marina Abramović Element at W1 Curates during Frieze Week 2025. Taking over the iconic 167 Oxford Street building, MAE is turning it into an immersive show of digital performance by the avatar of Marina Abramović, reimagining presence on a grand scale!

At 6:30, TAEX will host a panel discussion Unseen Selves: Art, Identity, and the Digital Mask, bringing together digital art leaders such as cultural strategist Elle Anastasiou, artist Kevin Abosch, Artistic Director UBS Digital Art Museum & Curator at Art Dubai Digital 2026 Ulrich Schrauth, and TAEX Director Stefanie De Regel for dialogues on the digital self, taking example and inspiration from the visionary project Marina Abramović Element.

MAE is a visionary digital art project by the godmother of performance art, Marina Abramović, powered by TAEX. Join us to experience the timeline and behind the scenes of the project as well as a sneak peak into the next chapter—METHOD.

Recognised as one of the most important contemporary artists of our time, Marina Abramović embarked on a quest to create her avatar which serves as a vibrant extension of her performance practice into the digital age.

Created by the artist to be at the age of 60, when she felt the most complete, this avatar enables the new dimension of performances that blend unprecedented graphics and complex narrative, forming the first chapter of her digital catalogue raisonné.
