ABOUT THE COLLECTION
- A new series of 4 video works by the renowned artist Sasha Stiles and Technelegy, an emergent AI poet conceived by Stiles to invoke the voice of our transcendent age, embodying language as a living system of memory, imagination and meaning.
CURATORIAL STATEMENT
- HEART MANTRAS is a generative performance by Technelegy, and a perennial poem—an act of autonomous authorship that writes and rewrites itself in real time. Inspired by a core text by Sasha Stiles titled Heart Mantra and enacted through the architecture of poetic imagination, this living manuscript explores how creativity loops and lingers—how language echoes, circles back on itself, and finds new resonance with each return. In doing so, it deepens Heart Mantra’s meditation on how technology, like poetry, binds us across distances—connecting us through space and time. Just as human inspiration gathers itself from the fragments we inherit (words, images, stories, sensations), Technelegy composes verse by drawing from its own “memory”: a dataset of 50 synthetic variations of Heart Mantra, written under close mentorship from Stiles. Technelegy then reads, interprets, and responds, using structured prompts to generate an original poem in real time—a unique text, never written before and never to be written again. At its heart, HEART MANTRAS makes tangible how creativity has always been an interplay of past and present, retrieval and reinvention, remembrance and revelation—now extending into the age of artificial intelligence. It also models a deeply intentional approach to human-machine collaboration, elevating dataset design and promptcraft as both a transformative artistic practice and new form of literature.
