An evocative meditation on motion, transformation, and the delicate interplay between control and chance—Study of a Floral Drift by MILKORVA is a series that guides an AI-born bloom through fluid digital space, where form unravels and reforms.
CURATORIAL STATEMENT
Study of a Floral Drift is a series that traces the fragile, transient life of a flower in motion. Each work begins with an AI-generated bloom, which becomes the starting point for a continuous, artist-guided movement through the digital space.
As the flower drifts, it alters its forms by stretching, dissolving, and reconstituting itself into layered traces of colour. What begins as a singular, recognisable figure gradually becomes something more fluid and abstract, echoing a painter's gesture and the unpredictable flow of pigment across a surface.
Balancing intention and chance, the works explore motion as both a controlled (using a games console controller) and intuitive act. The flower flows as a process where natural forms are reimagined through digital means.
The works should be viewed in consideration of how we perceive growth, movement, and transformation. Producing a visibly poetic, shifting phenomenon that might otherwise pass unnoticed.
